Swedish national team coach Tomasson defends Isak: 'We don't know the whole story'

Former Danish international striker and current coach of the Swedish national team, Jon Dahl Tomasson, defends Alexander Isak for his judgment to force a transfer away from Liverpool.

It's no longer a secret that Alexander Isak is trying to force a transfer away from Newcastle.

The Swede did not travel with the squad for the pre-season tour in Asia, and since the team returned home to England, he has trained separately from the rest of the squad.

English media have claimed that the forward "went on strike" to force through a sale that would take him to Liverpool, who have had a significant bid snubbed by Newcastle.

In addition, The Athletic has stated that Isak has decided not to play in the black and white shirt again.

Sweden's national team captain, Jon Dahl Tomasson, had a long career as a player at the highest level and spent one season (1997-1998) in Newcastle during his active career.

The Dane is careful when he answers questions about how he views Isak's actions.

"First and foremost: Alex" is an extremely professional player.

A fantastic character and personality.

I have talked a lot with 'Alex" during this period, says Dahl Tomasson to Fotbollskanalen.

se.

"
Such situations are quite complex.

These are extremely complex environments in which the players operate.

I am sure that it will work out in the end, but you have to know the whole picture before you draw conclusions.

""I don't think we know it (the whole picture).

I don't know the whole picture either.

It is quite normal since there is a lot of politics in a football club.

But one thing is certain: "
Alex" is a fantastic guy and very professional.

"
Tomasson adds: "We should all be very careful about drawing conclusions because we don't know the big picture.

"
Isak has neither played a match nor been in team training since last season ended.

The striker was out of the squad when Newcastle played 0-0 against Aston Villa in the Premier League premiere last Saturday, and as it looks right now, he doesn't seem to be very nearing playing again, regardless of which club he is going to play for.

At the same time, Jon Dahl Tomasson will soon select his squad for the first World Cup qualifier against Slovenia on 5 September, and there is doubt whether Isak will be fit for the squad.

 "There is time.

He is a pro, and I know he has trained.

Of course, he hasn't trained with a team and hasn't played matches.

Let's wait and see.

We'll have a good talk, me Alex and I, and hopefully he'll be back in team training soon.
