PSV striker Alassane Plea will miss the rest of the calendar year after sustaining a serious knee injury in the away game at FC Twente.
The 32-year-old Plea went down injured after a duel with Robin Propper, who came from behind the Frenchman to tackle the ball.
The PSV striker immediately grabbed his knee and was forced to be subbed off.
On Monday, PSV revealed that Plea suffered cartilage damage in his right knee.
The injury will keep the Frenchman sidelined for the rest of 2025 and likely part of 2026.
"This is a very unfortunate outcome, especially for Alassane and, of course, for PSV," Director of Football Earnest Stewart said in a club statement.
"We wish Alassane all the best and will support him as much as possible in his rehabilitation procedure.
"Early injury issues for PSVThe reigning Eredivisie champions added Plea to their squad after Luuk de Jong communicated he would not return to PSV.
American striker Ricardo Pepi, who scored 17 goals in 28 games across all competitions last season, is still recovering from a significant ACL injury and, therefore, unavailable for the time being.
Before Sunday's game against FC Twente, PSV manager Peter Bosz reiterated he and PSV will have to "be patient" with Pepi.
PSV will likely look to add a new striker to the squad with Plea and Pepi dealing with injury issues.
