Pleased Tijjani Reijnders made his aspiration come true, but 'can be better'

Manchester City newcomer Tijjani Reijnders debuted for the former Premier League champions with a goal and an assist against Wolves, but said he "can do better.

"
Manchester City beat Wolves 4-0 at Molineux, where Reijnders immediately got a spot in the starting XI from Pep Guardiola.

The Dutchman gave the assist for Erling Haaland's opener and scored the 2-0 following a lightning-fast counter - enough for the Premier League to name Reijnders the Player of the Match.

“Yeah, it’s a really nice start, of course, to start with a goal and assist, especially in the Premier League," said Reijnders on Manchester City's club website.

"
It’s something you always aspiration about.

It can be better.

""I’m always going on the pitch with a smile, I love playing football and enjoy every minute on the pitch.

This is what I want to show the fans.

Starting like this is unbelievable.

"
The 27-year-old Reijnders joined Manchester City for €55 million from Milan, two years after leaving AZ for a record transfer cost.

“The first game of the season, you don’t know what will happen or how the opponent will play," Reijnders continued.

"
We did quite well, they put a bit of pressure on us, but we stayed calm and it’s a good 4-0 win.

You get a new view on how to play football.

For me, it’s about quickly adapting.

I’m trying to do my best all the time.

Definitely, with the intensity in training and the team we have, you will definitely get better.

”Reijnders aims for Premier League titleManchester City continue their Premier League campaign at home, where they'll meet Tottenham Hotspur next Saturday.

The Cityzens are looking to reclaim the Premier League title after relinquishing it for the first time in five years.

Reijnders re-emphasised that City are looking to win an eleventh league title.

“Yes, the goal is to win trophies,” he said.

“Last season City didn’t win the league, and that is our main goal.

We all know what we want.

We are really eager to reach that goal.

“Big names were at this club.

I think it was more of a pleased feeling to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.

That’s what I want to show, that I am pleased to play for this club, especially with a lot of love and fun.
