Newcastle managed fresh injury strike after Anthony Gordon compelled off in pre-season

Newcastle United have been managed a major setback after winger Anthony Gordon was compelled off with an apparent injury during their pre-season beat to Atletico Madrid.

Eddie Howe’s side have endured a torrid off-season.

Not only have they been rejected by several transfer targets, but they’re also yet to win a pre-season game ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Just when things couldn’t look much worse, Gordon, 24, was compelled off in their 2-0 beat to Atletico Madrid with an apparent injury.

The England international initially received urgent medical treatment on the field before he hobbled off the field and moved straight into the dressing room.

When requested over the severity of his injury, Howe said: "We wish he’s ok.

It's an ankle problem.

We initially thought it was a muscle.

The good news is it's just a twist.

The initial feeling is he should be OK.
