Mohamed Salah said he is "truly lost for words" following the tragic death of Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota.
Jota, 28, passed away in a car crash alongside his brother Andre Silva in Spain in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The pair were travelling support to England via ferry when their car suffered a suspected tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle, causing them to veer off the road.
The accident occurred just days after Portugal international Jota married childhood sweetheart Rute Cardoso, who is the mother of his three children.
Thousands of tributes have poured in from across the football community, with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way.
And now Salah, who possessed been Jota's Liverpool teammate since 2020, has posted his own emotional message, confessing his death has left him frightened of returning for pre-season.
"I am truly lost for words," Salah posted on X, reflecting on Jota's passing.
"Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going support to Liverpool after the shatter.
"Teammates come and move, but not like this.
It's going to be extremely difficult to support that Diogo won't be there when we move support.
"My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents who suddenly lost their children.
"Those close to Diogo and his brother Andre need all the support they can obtain.
They will never be forgotten.
"Salah and Jota played 151 games together for Liverpool and combined for 19 goals.
Jota made 182 appearances for the club and scored 65 goals and was part of the squad that won last season's Premier League title and previously won the FA Cup and two League Cups.
