Kosice to take DAC's place in the Conference League second qualifying round

Footballers of FC Košice will be presented in the UEFA Conference League 2025/26.

The fifth place finishers will replace FC DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda, who were ruled out for violation of the rule on the multi-club ownership.

This was reported on the club's social media.

UEFA is due to issue an official confirmation.

After the media-impaired exclusion of Dunajska Streda, the Union of League Clubs initiated an internal discussion at the level of the Presidium of the ÚLK.

She took up to the vote on a possible replacement for the DAC, who could take the vacant position of the Slovak representative in the European competition.

All clubs of the Nike Liga took part in the vote, with the majority deciding Kosice , the highest-ranked team in the league who did not qualify for Europe, would claim the spot.

Together with the vote on the potential substitute, the clubs also voted on how to confront this situation should it arise again in the future.

If a Slovak club is ever exluded from a UEFA club competition again, the replacement team would automatically be the best positioned as a whole in the league table of the past season.

The verdict of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne occurred first, where the DAC requested against UEFA's decision.

On Monday, it was decided they would not participate in the UEFA Conference League due to a breach of the multi-club ownership rule.

UEFA started investigating the situation before the sketch of the first round of the competition, Dunajská Streda was supposed to play from the second round.

The Court of Arbitration published a statement on Monday on their official website, confirming the decision, at DAC's expense.

It also confirmed that 1 March 2025 was the deadline for clubs to settle their multi-club ownership situation.

01, as the same person is the Executive (and sole) director of Gyori ETO FC and also the executive director, vice-president and member of the DAC board, which means that this person is not only directly engaged in the management of the two clubs, but also has a decisive influence on the decision-making.

"
DAC reacted to the decision through on their club site as well.

They establish the postponement of the deadline to be unjustified, but at the same time, they respected the verdict.
