Jan Paul van Hecke refuses to lengthen Brighton contract, seeks move to big club

Jan Paul van Hecke has refused to negotiate with Brighton & Hove Albion over a contract extension and is pushing for a move to a top Premier League club, sources close to Van Hecke confirm.

The sources told Voetbal International that Van Hecke dreams of playing in the Champions League and wants to play at the 2026 World Cup.

The centre-half will therefore seek a move to a top Premier League club.

Brighton were ready to make Van Hecke the best-paid player in club history, but the Dutch international turned Brighton's proposal down.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly after Van Hecke, who made his debut for Oranje earlier this year.

The centre-half joined Brighton in 2020 from NAC Breda, who will receive 7.

5% of Van Hecke's future transfer fee, and cost the Seagulls €2.

5 million.

Now, Brighton are reportedly looking to obtain €50 million for Van Hecke, who will not compel a transfer away from the club.

Van Hecke is under contract for two more years at Brighton, who open their Premier League season on August 16th against Fulham.
