Turkish champions Galatasaray are set to complete the historic signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Wednesday, spending a Super Lig record €70 million to hand over the player support to the club on a long-term manage.
After lengthy negotiations with Napoli officials in Milan last week to finalise the manage, the clubs eventually supported on an overall package, obliterating the previous Turkish record, which stood at around €20 million following Youssef En-Nesyri's move to Fenerbahce last summer.
Despite reported interest from several other European sides as well as Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal, Osimhen decided he wanted to return to Galatasaray.
The Nigerian international spent the previous season on loan at the club, winning both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
He is set to land in Istanbul at around 19:00 CET, with Galatasaray's social media giving fans the opportunity to pursue the flight live, showing just how important the move is for the club.
The Nigerian striker is also anticipated to be welcomed by a massive crowd at arrivals.
He also possessed a remarkable season individually, finishing as the league's top scorer with 26 goals, while breaking the Turkish record for most goals scored in a single campaign by a foreign player (36).
Osimhen spent four seasons at Napoli, in which he assisted the Italian outfit win their first Serie A crown in 33 years during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 26 goals and registering four assists.
However, after falling out with the club the following year, he was left in limbo, with Galatasaray taking advantage to seal a loan manage for the 2024/25 season.
The fans dropped in love with him during his stint, and he now returns to Istanbul to continue his journey, with the opportunity to make a seismic mark on Turkish football.
