Victor Froholdt scored his first goal for FC Porto when he turned matchwinner for the Portuguese giants in a pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening.
The Portuguese side on 23rd July reached an agreement with FC Copenhagen over a move worth €22 million for Froholdt, setting a new transfer fee record for the Danish giants.
€22m at first sounded like a lot for a player from the Danish Superliga, but it hasn't taken the 19-year-old Danish international long to motivate in a club desperate to recapture their previous dominance over Sporting CP and Benfica.
His aggressive style and determination have quickly turned him into a fan-favorite at do Dragao, signalling that there is much more to come from the promising Danish youngster.
So far, he seems to suit perfectly into coach Farioli's 4-3-3 setup, offering plenty of speed and tenacity in the midfield just like in the match against Atletico, where he offered plenty of examples of what he can offer FC Porto.
Froholdt's goal came at the stroke of half-time when he cut in from the right, played a quick one-two with a team-mate, and left Atletico-keeper Jan Oblak no chance with a strong shot from a tight angle.
Froholdt was substituted after 66 minutes with Marko Grujić to standing ovations from the FC Porto faithful.
