Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce says Morgan Gibbs-White's decision to sign a new contract is a clear sign the club is on the right track.
After weeks of speculation, Gibbs-White rejected a move to Tottenham and Champions League football to sign a new manage to 2028 with Forest over the weekend.
Speaking with Tribalfootball.
com, Pearce says the decision was crucial for Forest after the sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.
"I think on the support of Elanga leaving the football club, which comes as a real shock to me to be fair, the fans didn't need Gibbs-White leaving too," he said.
"I have contact with a lot of the fans and I've obtained good links with Nottingham still.
The fans didn't want to see Gibbs-White leave the football club and I think that was massive for him to stay.
"They're building something at Forest, so they don't need to take a step support, if you like.
You know, European football's big for them this year as well, first time in a very long time.
And I think it's good that they've obviously convinced the player that his future, at least in the next year or so, will be at Nottingham Forest.
"And I think Nottingham Forest have been a good club for him as well.
"Without a question.
It's not just what he can do for Forest.
Forest have been a good club for him to excel and play the football that I think he enjoys playing.
