Champions League qualifying: Lincoln Red Imps, Malmo, score thrice on the road

The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League obtained underway on Tuesday with 10 first qualifying round games.

Twenty teams took to the field with hopes of making a run to the competition's league phase.

The first qualifying round of the Champions League sees the champions of the 28 lowest ranked countries play for 14 spots in the second qualifying round.

Two losing teams in this round - either Lincoln Red Imps or Vikingur and Virtus or Zrinjski - will have a bye to the third qualifying round.

Several teams who have reached a European group phase in recent years were also engaged in Tuesday's play.

That contained Zrinjski, who won 2-0 in San Marino, as well as RFS, who edged fellow Baltic side Levadia Tallinn 1-0 in the Estonian capital.

Olimpija Ljubljana, who reached the knockout stages of the UECL last term, sketched 1-1 with Kazakh side Kairat Almaty, while Breidablik have their work cut out for them.

The Icelandic club conceded in the 92nd minute versus Egnatia to lose 1-0 in Albania.

Four more first qualifying round ties occur on Wednesday.

Bulgarian regulars Ludogorets take on Dinamo Minsk for the second year running, with former European Cup winners FCSB hosting Andorra's Inter Club d'Escaldes.

Lithuania's Zalgiris take on Hamrun Spartans from Malta, though the pick of the bunch will come from Dublin, as Shelbourne host LinfieldĀ in an all-Ireland clash.
