Celtic sign Swedish international striker from FC Nordsjaelland

FC Nordsjaelland have sold the 23-year old Swedish international striker Benjamin Nygren for Scottish outfit Celtic.

After 107 games and 35 goals, FC Nordsjaelland now says goodbye to Swedish striker Benjamin Nygren, who has been sold to the Scottish champions Celtic.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old Nygren joined the Danish side from Genk in January 2022 and now leaves the Danish club as the fourth highest scoring player in FC Nordsjaelland's history.

FC Nordsjaelland does not mention anything about the transfer fee, but Sky Sports has previously written that Celtic will pay a little over two million EUROs for the player, who only had half a year left on his contract.

"I came to FC Nordsjaelland as a young boy, and now I leave the club as a grown man", says Nygren to the FC Nordsjaelland website.

"It has been a fantastic time for me, and I have grown a lot both as a footballer and as a person", says Nygren.

In the previous season, Nygren was leading goalscorer in the Danish club with 15 goals.

He was five goals behind leading goalscorer in the Danish Superliga, Patrick Mortensen from AGF.

"It has been important for me to play regularly and get big challenges both in the Superliga and in the Conference League, and at the same time I have played with some really good players, who have helped to develop me.

"
"So I would like to say thank you to all my fellow players and the coaches, who have helped me to regain my confidence and become the player I am now", says Nygren.

FC Nordsjaelland football director Alexander Riget believes that Nygren now takes a new step in his career after having gone through a great period of development in the Danish club.

"He has been great for our environment with his will to constantly improve and develop and with his ability to drive the squad", says Riget.
