With an annual salary of €5 million, the unwanted Akpom was the top earner at Ajax.
Transfer sagaAkpom was the subject of a bizarre transfer saga involving three teams this summer.
Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, and Ipswich Town all battled for the signing of Akpom, who cancelled a medical exam at Birmingham after Ipswich came forward.
The Arsenal academy product joined Ajax in 2023 from Middlesbrough, who received €12 million for the striker.
In 68 games for the Amsterdam giants, Akpom scored 23 goals.
He spent the last half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Lille, where he scored three goals in 16 outings.
