Ajax set to loan out wantaway midfielder Sivert Mannsverk to Sparta Prague

Eredivisie hopefuls Ajax are set to loan out Norwegian Sivert Mannsverk to Sparta Prague, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Sivert Mannsverk joined Ajax in the summer of 2023 from Molde for €6 million.

He won the Norwegian Eliteserien with the Norwegian side in 2022 and was one of the driving forces behind the team.

However, he failed to build on his good performances at Ajax and to this day has the label of 'flop' after former sporting director Sven Mislintat, who ravaged the club's finances by handing out disproportionate salaries, brought the midfielder in.

With an annual salary of €2,5 million, Mannsverk is one of Ajax's top earners and a player Ajax desperately want to sell.

Earlier this summer, Mannsverk, along with several other first-team players, was effectively taken out of the senior squad and banned from first-team training sessions.

Sparta beats Lecce for MannsverkThe controlling midfielder spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, who did not take the opportunity to buy him out.

Now, everything looks like Sparta Prague will welcome Mannsverk soon.

According to De Telegraaf's Mike Verweij, Ajax will loan out Mannsverk with an option for Sparta to buy the midfielder.

Czech sources have also confirmed the news.

Mannsverk prefers Sparta Prague over Serie A side Lecce, who, according to Verweij, will only get a opportunity at loaning Mannsverk if negotiations between Ajax and Sparta break down.

12-time Norway U21 international Mannsverk has played 18 games for Ajax, scoring not once and notching one assist.
